Federal grant intended to help displace workers

The Rock County Job Center will be sharing in a $275 thousand Department of Labor grant intended to help workers, displaced by the pandemic, find jobs. Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board CEO Rhonda Suda says the COVID-19 public health emergency has caused a significant increase in worker layoffs across industrial sectors. Suda says the six-county regional unemployment claim numbers jumped by almost 800% this summer compared to last year. She says the money will expand the Job Center’s capacity to offer dislocated worker program services through September of 2022.
