Beloit Snappers fans propose alternative team name and mascot

Beloit Snappers fans have their own proposal for a new mascot in 2021.
The minor league baseball team held a fan vote for five new potential names: Beloit Moo, Beloit Cheese Balls, Beloit Polka Pike, Beloit Supper Clubbers and Beloit Sky Carp.
Ben Witkins organized a petition to try and keep Snappy the turtle in some form, and his counter proposal for future team owner Quint Studer is the Beloit River Rockers.
His idea would reinvent the mascot as a rock star, doubling as a play-on-words with the Rock River adjacent to the downtown Beloit stadium currently under construction.
Witkins and other supporters designed a concept logo and uniforms for the team, and they started a Facebook page and Twitter account to gather support.

He incorporated all five of the mascot options proposed by the team as part of Snappy’s rock and roll band, the Supper Club, that could stage “concerts” at home games.
He said his communication with Studer and the Snappers leadership has been limited, but he is grateful for their investment to save Beloit baseball and wants to see the team have long-term success.
