Students in the school district of Milton will get to participate in winter sports after all.
The Milton School Board voted 4-to-3 Monday night to approve a new plan for winter athletics under the discretion of the superintendent.
The new plan would allow in-person practices to begin next week with the first competitions starting in January.
Athletic Director Jeff Spiwak said they have a lot of logistical issues to work out, but they hope to still have 12 basketball games, 7 hockey games, 5 swim meets, 5 gymnastics meets and 3 wrestling duals.
Previously, the board voted to cancel all athletic competitions through January 26, and some of the high school gym facilities were turned over for ongoing referendum construction as a result.
The Rock County Public Health Department continues to recommend schools do not hold in-person athletic practices or competitions.
