Area non-profits are partnering to host another social justice presentation from local residents who are part of the global majority but find themselves in the minority in the United States.

Milton resident Assad Mirza will discuss his experiences growing up in Pakistan and moving to our area at the age of 18.

The other speaker is Ibrahim Jitmoud, the imam at the Janesville Muslim Dawa Circle.

Jitmoud said many residents don’t often encounter Muslims in their day-to-day life, and he hopes to clear up many misconceptions people may have about Islam.

He will share the story of how his brother was murdered in Kentucky and his father went viral for hugging and forgiving the murderer in court.

The virtual discussion will be held Thursday night starting at 6:30 over Zoom.

Pre-registration is required through a link found on the Facebook pages of the Hedberg Public Library and the Diversity Action Team of Rock County.
