Janesville police are letting the community know about the upcoming release of a sexual assault offender from prison . Authorities say 37-year-old Derek A. Tabbert will be living as 1214 Cherry Street. Court records indicate Tabbert was convicted of Fourth Degree Sexual Assault in October of 2001, along with First and Second Degree Sexual Assault of a Child in 2002. Tabbert’s supervision will include GPS monitoring, no contact with minors, and no unapproved activities in the community. Tabbert will be released on January 5th. Police stress the notification is not intended to increase rear, rather, it is in the belief an informed public is a safer public.
