The YWCA of Rock County receives a donation of $1 million.
The local non-profit was one of 384 organizations across the country selected to receive a portion of over $4 billion from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott.
The richest woman in the world according to Bloomberg is pledging to give away at least half of her wealth to charity, and the YWCA Rock County was one of 60 YWCA organizations to receive a donation.
Executive Director Angela Moore said she received the call earlier this month but was told to keep it a secret until Scott announced the donations herself.
The donation is unrestricted funding, and the Rock County board of directors is meeting to determine the best use of the money as the non-profit approaches its 100th year.
Moore said $1 million represents roughly half of their budget in a normal year.
