The COVID-19 vaccine is reaching first responders in addition to health care workers and skilled nursing facilities.
Janesville Police Chief Dave Moore said Mercy hospital vaccinated 56 of his officers in an hour on Monday night, and he anticipates the rest of his staff will be offered the inoculation in January.
Beloit Memorial Hospital used some of its surplus vaccines to treat over a dozen members of the Beloit Fire Department.
Fire Chief Dan Pease said his staff haven’t received yet the vaccines they requested from the state.
Rock County nursing homes will start administering the vaccine next week.
County Administrator Josh Smith said Walgreens is set to bring doses to Rock Haven on January 5, with two follow up visits a month apart.
A spokesperson from Cedar Crest in Janesville said they are expecting to receive their first vaccines from CVS during the second week of the month.
