COVID-19 relief bill hitting snags in Wisconsin state legislature

A COVID-19 relief bill doesn’t appear to be making much progress in the state legislature.

Representative Mark Spreitzer of Beloit said Republicans in the Senate and Assembly disagree on what should be included in the bills.

Their proposals include measures Spreitzer said Democrats won’t support, including limitations on local health departments and school boards to implement COVID-19 restrictions.

An amended bill could be voted on at some point this week, but it is expected to be vetoed by Governor Tony Evers if passed.

Spreitzer thinks the two sides should focus on the aspects of COVID relief they already agree on, to get a bill passed to support Wisconsin residents and communities.
