Janesville fire officials are looking into the cause of a blaze in a three unit residential building on the city’s near west side. Firefighters were called to the 800 block of West Van Buren Street a little before 10:00 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, flames were coming thru the roof and police were evacuating the residents. The residents were unaware of the danger and a passerby had called emergency responders. No one was hurt and several dogs were saved. The Red Cross is assisting the five residents. Damage is estimated at more than $100-thousand. The cause is not considered suspicious.
