Beloit Baseball signs a Professional Development License with the Miami Marlins, officially beginning a 10-year contract to serve as Miami’s Advanced-A affiliate.

The Marlins’ leadership team is sharing input on Beloit’s construction of a new downtown stadium with plans to make the dirt and grass match exactly what Miami uses in its field.

Team Owner Quint Studer said the Marlins’ affiliation with the other team he owns, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, made it easier to bring Beloit into the fold and ensure southern Wisconsin has a minor league team for at least the next 10 years.

The Snappers plan to unveil a new team name and mascot in the spring, and the new stadium is set to open next summer, roughly halfway through the season.

Prior to the invitation to join the Marlins organization, Beloit was an affiliate of the Oakland Athletics from 2013-2020, the Minnesota Twins from 2005-2012, and the Milwaukee Brewers from 1982-2004.
