The owner of the Janesville Jets is considering running for governor in 2022.

Bill McCoshun says he’s going through the exploratory steps in the process but doesn’t plan to make a firm decision until June.

He previously worked as chief of staff for former Governor Tommy Thompson, and McCoshun also served as the state commerce secretary under his administration.

He currently runs a Madison-based political consulting firm, Capitol Consultants, in addition to his work as Jets owner.

McCoshun has been working with Janesville city and business leaders to fund an indoor sports complex project that would be the new home stadium of the Jets.

His potential run for governor was first reported by the Wisconsin Conservative Digest.
