Kwik Trip already has city council approval to build two new gas stations and convenience stores in Janesville this year, and the Wisconsin-based company is planning a third.
It submitted an application to the city with plans to add another location at 1030 North Wright Road between Rock County Honda and Henke-Clarson Funeral home across from Mercyhealth’s East clinic.
The city council will first need to approve an ordinance change to approve gas service stations as a conditional use for that property, before the council would then review the specific building application.
Kwik Trip is currently constructing a new location about a mile up the road on East Milwaukee Street in the site of the former Maurer’s Market and Sentry grocery stores.
The company also recently purchased the entire Stop-N-Go gas station chain, which includes a location at the Milwaukee Street and Mt. Zion Avenue interchange less than half a mile from the proposed project on Wright Road.
The city council previously approved another new Kwik Trip gas station for the corner of Bell Street and Humes Road/Highway 14 near Target last summer.
Beloit could also get its first Kwik Trip this year as the company is currently seeking approval for a location at 3155 Prairie Avenue near Inman Parkway.
