A jury trial is set for a Beloit man charged with homicide for the death of his infant son.
35-year-old Deanthony Hodges appeared in court for his final pre-trial hearing Wednesday to finalize motions over medical testimony in his trial scheduled for the week of May 3.
Hodges is accused of abusing the child before he became unresponsive and was rushed to a hospital in March of 2017.
His attorneys will argue that the child sustained the injuries before he was under Hodges’ care.
The child’s mother, 33-year-old Jessica Nelson, is charged separately with felony child neglect for the incident.
Both sides will provide testimony from medical experts, and the jury will have to decide who and what to believe.
