A clearer indicator for trends in a community’s COVID-19 infection rate may come from its wastewater.  Rock County Environmental Health Director Rick Wietersen says more and more communities are now testing wastewater for virus levels.  Wietersen says a community’s level of infection can be found from just one test.  He says the virus can be found with this method even before someone becomes ill.  He says this is not a substitute for human testing, but it can indicate early trends for an entire community.
