Bomb squad responds to east side Janesville home for investigation

The Janesville Fire Department calls in the Dane County Bomb Squad for an investigation on the city’s east side.
Battalion Chief Ron Bomkamp said firefighters responded to a police call in the 3400 block of Randolph Road to check a man for medical clearance.
Someone on scene informed paramedics that the home had explosives in the basement, so the investigation brought in the bomb squad and the Wisconsin National Guard’s 54th Civil Support Team to examine the devices.
Emergency management officials asked the public to avoid the area and anticipated providing further updates later Thursday morning.
