Employees at five Rock County businesses are facing citation of more than $450 after selling alcohol to minors this week.

Rock County Sheriff’s Sergeant Chris Krahn says compliance checks were done using underage operatives from Janesville Mobilizing for Change.

Krahn says out of the 31 businesses that were checked Wednesday, five were not compliant.

Clerks or bartenders were cited at Carl’s Shell in Edgerton, Footville Mini Mart, Hat Rack Tap in Avalon, Jake’s Mobil on Highway 51 in Janesville, and Lion’s Quick Mart on Highway 14 in Janesville.

The Sheriff’s Office provided advanced written notice to each establishment of upcoming random alcohol compliance checks along with information on underage alcohol violations.
