Janesville swears in new police officers

The Janesville Police Department is adding nine new officers.  Police Chief David Moore says, in a department with 105 sworn officers, nine is a large number to hire at anyone time.  Moore says the department had a lot of retirements and some resignations over the course of the last year.  He says he’s pleased to have had close to 150 applicants for the open position.  Of the nine new officers, five are from Janesville and two from Beloit.  All have at least 60-college credits and many bachelors degrees.  Eight of the new officers were sworn in Monday, the ninth got her badge Wednesday.
