The next big facilities project for Rock County is its 911 Communications Center

Facilities Management Director Brent Sutherland said the county is looking to renovate the existing building and add on an 11,0000 square-foot expansion to house the county’s IT department.

He said the move will create a more efficient connection for their servers and computer system and better protect them from potential shutdowns.

The $11 million project will need a conditional use permit approved by the Janesville Plan Commission, and the Rock County Board still has to sign off on the final bid award.

Sutherland expects construction to start this winter and last about a year. The emergency dispatch center will still maintain its full operation while renovations go on.
