A Janesville man will spend 8 years behind bars for molesting a young girl he knows.
63-year-old William Snyder pleaded guilty to second degree sexual assault of a child.
Rock County Judge John Wood sentenced him Thursday to 8 years of prison followed by 12 years of extended supervision.
He said the sentence will ensure the 9-year-old victim and the community will be protected as she grows into adulthood and beyond.
Assistant District Attorney Rich Sullivan said the sexual assault has damaged the victim’s entire family on top of the trauma the girl endured.
