The Rock County Board approves a redrawn map of supervisory districts.

It held a special meeting Thursday night to vote on the redistricting ahead of approaching deadlines this fall.

The first proposal for a redrawn map from the county’s Geographic Information System Manager Jennifer Borlick did not take into consideration the location of the incumbents, who ended up in conflict in new districts.

Her second draft maintained more continuity for supervisors while making districts more compact, hitting a population deviation of under five percent.

Board supervisors also wanted to ensure that minority populations were properly represented around the Beloit area.

The redistricting process has been delayed and condensed due to the late arrival of 2020 census data.
