Students at a local college are getting cash incentives to get immunized against COVID-19. Eight UW-Whitewater students will be getting $7000 scholarships each, as part of the UW System’s “70-for-70” campaign. In addition to the scholarships, UW-Whitewater also awarded $500 each to 40 vaccinated students as part of a weekly drawing earlier this semester. University Housing is also awarding first-assignment rights to two randomly selected vaccinated students. These efforts may be paying off. The university’s vaccination rate is currently 77% for students, and 91% for employees.
