Local legislator applauds bills improving use of sexual assault kits

conley-sue

State Representative Sue Conley of Janesville is applauding the bipartisan passage of legislation to better collect, track, and retain information from sexual assault kits.  Conley says legislators have been trying to change the law for years to prevent testing backlogs.  She says the legislation will also create a tracking system for victims to follow the status of kits collect in their case.  The approval comes more than six-years after the state Department of Justice identified more than six-thousand untested kits.  Some were decades old.  The bills are on the Governor’s desk.
