Giving Tuesday may be growing in popularity. United Way Blackhawk Region President and CEO Mary Fanning-Penny says close to 35-million Americans donated to the charitable effort last year. That’s a 29% increase from the year before. Fanning-Penny says the fund raising effort is very important to local non-profits. She cites national statistics showing one-in-four people are food insecure and chronic homelessness has increased 15% during the pandemic
