Janesville’s Economic Development Director dispels myths related to Hy-Vee project

The City of Janesville’s Economic Development Director is setting the record straight when it comes to proposed changes to City ordinances that would facilitate Hy-Vee’s redevelopment of the former Shopko building.
Gale Price says it would be completely legal for the business to operate under a Class B license if the City Council approves proposed changes to City ordinance.
Price says the liquor store would be completely separate from the rest of the grocery store with it’s own entrance. The open floor plan would be for the bar/restaurant inside the grocery store that would not sell alcohol for off-site consumption.
Price says city staff have included a requirement that alcohol sold at the bar/restaurant inside the grocery store must stay inside the restaurant.
