Local legislator runs for Secretary of State

Longtime Wisconsin Secretary of State Doug La Follette will have a little competition in the next election. Local Assembly Representative Amy Loudenbeck of Clinton says she wants his job. The 31st District Republican used her campaign announcement Wednesday morning in Janesville to directly attack the Democrat who’s held the office for decades. Loudenbeck says for more than 45 years, the current Secretary of State has been collecting a state paycheck and has nothing to show for it except his name on the door of an empty office. She says voters are tired of legacy politics. Loudenback also announced the three pillars for her campaign will be to modernize the business services of the office, keep a check on the Wisconsin Elections Commission, and ensure transparency of the Board of Commissioners of Public Lands. Loudenbeck announced Tuesday she would not be running for a seventh term in the legislature.
