The Rock County Health Department is recommending the Pfizer booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for 16 and 17-year-olds. A news release states the health department’s support comes after the recent FDA emergency use authorization. The release also indicates the CDC has strengthened its booster recommendation to encourage anyone aged 16 or 17 to get a booster shot at least six months after receiving their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Currently only the Pfizer vaccine is authorized for 16 and 17 year-olds. A community based vaccination clinic is currently open Tuesday through Saturday at the old Rock County Job Center in Janesville.
