The Janesville Police Department is seeking authorization from City Council to purchase new squad cars. Police Chief David Moore says purchasing eight cars every year is an appropriate car rotation as vehicles near 100 thousand miles and spend even more hours idling while officers occupy them. Moore says they anticipate ordering them this month, and they probably won’t be delivered before late summer, early fall. Moore says the City’s 2022 Capital Improvement Plan includes the $299,000 cost for eight squad cars.
