Relief for homeless students is provided through a city-wide project from Janesville’s six service clubs. Janesville Lions Club President Eric Kuznacic says he has the fortune of never having known homelessness, especially as someone under 18 who does everything they’re supposed to, but worries about where they’re going to sleep. The clubs are collecting hygiene items to put together about 50 kits to be distributed to local schools. Janesville School District’s Families in Transition Coordinator Carrie Kulinski says they had 442 homeless students before COVID. This school year, they’ve identified about 200 students. The project runs from the 1st until the 28th of February with the goal of giving the items to the school district in March.
