The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an inmate suicide at the Rock County Jail.
According to a news release, an inmate at the Rock County Jail notified staff that another inmate was in need of medical attention just before 3:30 last Sunday afternoon.
Jail staff found the inmate hanging in his cell and immediately initiated basic life support measures.
Janesville Fire Department paramedics responded and were able to regain a pulse before transporting the inmate to a local hospital where he died Wednesday.
The inmate who died is being identified as a 37-year-old Evansville man who was arrested last Saturday on a charge of operating while intoxicated, seventh offense.
