Beloit City Council approves conditional use permit for church on Harrison Ave

A vacant church in Beloit should be getting new life soon.
Community Development Director Julie Christensen says the Church of the Living God, Pillar and Ground of the Truth the Light of the World is seeking a conditional use permit to operate in the building at 901 Harrison Avenue.
Christensen says Atonement Lutheran Church was located in the building until it ceased operation in October of 2020.
Because the property is zoned residential and has sat vacant for more than 12 months, a conditional use permit is required to resume using it as a religious institution.
The Beloit City Council approved a conditional use permit for the project with a unanimous vote Monday night.
