A 34-year-old former Beloit Police officer accused of domestic abuse and mistreating an animal has his case moved to Rock County Veterans Court.
Rock County Judge Karl Hanson accepted guilty pleas from Michael J. Higuchi on charges of battery with a domestic abuse enhancer and intentionally mistreating animals Wednesday morning.
According to online court records, the court withheld findings of guilt and remanded Higuchi to veterans court.
Higuchi is accused of hitting a woman and a dog in December of 2020.
The Beloit Police Department said Higuchi was placed on paid administrative leave for their internal investigation, and he resigned in April of last year.
Higuchi has a hearing scheduled in veterans court on February 17th.
