A local producer wins re-election to the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection’s Corn Promotion Board. Randy Hughes of Janesville has been on the board for more than two-decades. Hughes says the board’s work is vital to Wisconsin agriculture considering the growing importance of the grain. He says the future appears very bright, considering the aviation industry is now exploring ethanol as a fuel. Other Wisconsin industries like dairy are also a big consumer of corn. In fact, Wisconsin uses so much corn, Hughes says some actually has to be imported.
