A local community works to bring in some much need housing.
The City of Fort Atkinson wants to partner with an experienced real estate developer to build-out it’s approved residential Neighborhood Plan on a 75 acre site located along Banker Road.
City Manager Rebecca Houseman LeMire says construction on the new subdivision is expected to begin by spring of 2023.
LeMire says recent housing studies indicate there are not enough homes in Fort Atkinson for all of the people who want to live there.
The City’s goals are to provide a wide range of housing units at various price points; to provide the ability to fit the needs of many different buyers; to attract new residents to the community; and to encourage the turn over the existing housing stock to provide new options for existing residents.
Developers have until April first to express their interest.
