New riverfront building and outdoor space planned in Beloit

The Beloit City Council approves applying for grants to help a developer construct a $16 to $20 million building and outdoor space next to the Rock River.
Community Development Director Julie Christensen says the new building proposed by East Grand Avenue Development – a Hendricks company – is estimated to be four stories in height and may include a restaurant, commercial uses, and office or residential uses.
Christensen says the developer isn’t able to apply for the grants on their own.
As part of the project, the existing building and river piers at 80-100 Grand Avenue would be torn down.
