The City of Janesville considers moving from a regular traffic light to a four-way stop sign at the intersection of West Racine and South Jackson Streets.
City Engineer Mike Payne says that intersection doesn’t get the traffic it used to when the General Motors assembly plant was in operation.
Payne says the stop lights there are also antiquated and in some cases deficient.
The Janesville City Council is expected to approve the first reading of an ordinance ordering the all-way stop signs on Monday night and schedule a public hearing for later in the year after a 90 day traffic study is complete.
