After many years of tight budgeting, Rock County Jumpstart is finally getting recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Administration. Executive Director Genia Stevens says not a lot of grant funding is provided for their programming in working with diverse and ethnic businesses and that’s why the $1,056,525 grant is significant. Stevens says they and other organizations supporting under served businesses accomplished a lot for owners despite tight budgeting. She says when economic development stakeholders receive funding from private, public and state organizations, organizations like Rock County Jumpstart are left behind. She says the grant is important as it allows them, recipient chambers and non-profits to grow so they can do more for businesses they serve.
