A local church may no longer be holding the free annual festival that drew crowds of over 30,000 people.
New Life Assembly of God in Janesville canceled Freedom Fest in 2021 saying “something cool” would be coming in 2022.
An email Wednesday says “We have been through some major transitions here at New Life and will not be doing Freedom Fest this year and most likely this is an event that we no longer will do.”
The event is normally held in June or July, featuring live music, food vendors, fireworks and carnival rides. A scaled-down version of the event held in 2020 featured school supply giveaways in addition to its other charitable aspects.
Church officials refused a request for further comment.
