Janesville Mobilizing for Change urges the Janesville City Council to consider what it can do to prevent underage drinking.
Project Coordinator Xandi Finn says the State Council on Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse recently released a report with 61 recommendations.
Finn says Wisconsin has an excessive number of locations that sell and serve alcohol, contributing to the high rate of heavy and binge drinking.
Finn told the City Council this week that medical research has revealed that serious long-term consequences of underage drinking include higher rates of opioid and alcohol dependency later on in life.
