The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s three research projects receive almost $40,000 from the Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin. Biology Associate Professor Elisabeth Harrahy says she, Doctor Jessica Orlofske and Doctor Laura Schulz at UW-Parkside are collaborating on a Freshwater Summer Camp for high school juniors. Harrahy says it’s a one-week program to introduce students to different aquatic habitats in southeast Wisconsin as well as other bodies of water. She says it’s to introduce them to stuff freshwater ecologists and other water scientists might do in those eco systems. According to a news release, Aquatic Biogeochemistry of Wisconsin Waters and Building a Toolbox to Evaluate the ROI on redevelopment of Areas of Concern are two other projects.
