A 34-year-old former Beloit woman pleads guilty in connection to the death of her infant son, avoiding a trial that was scheduled to start next month.
Jessica A. Nelson of Milwaukee is accused of leaving her seven-week-old baby in the care of 36-year-old Deanthony Hodges in 2017 after he had been suspected of abusing her older children.
The infant became unresponsive in Hodges care and eventually died at the hospital. Doctors said he had injuries consistent with being attacked or shaken.
Hodges plead guilty last year to neglecting a child, resulting in death and was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Nelson plead guilty Thursday to the same charge.
She’s scheduled to be sentenced July 14th.
