Authorities are looking into the cause of an explosion Friday afternoon in Walworth County that leaves a man dead. The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office says they received the report of a boat explosion on Lauderdale Lake in the town of LaGrange during the noon hour. Deputies arrive to find a pontoon boat with significant damage off the shore. Three men who were installing a pier for a local pier service are then located. One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene by the Walworth County Medical Examiner’s office. Another man was transported to a hospital for his injuries, while the third was treated and released. The victims of the explosion have yet to be identified. The blast is being investigated by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, OSHA and Walworth County authorities. The Walworth County Hazardous Materials Unit assisted with the fuel spillage from the boat.
