The Janesville Plan Commission gets it’s first look at plans to expand the Rock County Jail.
Senior Planner Brian Schweigl says the property is zoned M1 Light Industrial where correctional institutions are listed as a conditional use.
Schweigl says the project would require an amendment to the County’s existing conditional use permit.
When the Plan Commission meets Monday night they are expected to set a public hearing for the project on April 18th.
The project is expected to be completed in phases beginning this summer and wrapping up in 2025.
