Slow-no-wake speed restriction placed on Rock River

Boaters need to lay off the throttle on a portion of the Rock River.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office says the U.S. Geological Gauge in Afton reads 6.57 feet. County ordinance requires a slow-no-wake speed restriction to be place on the river when water levels exceed 6.5 feet in Afton.

Deputies will be placing slow-no-wake signs along the Rock River at all public access points between the Indianford Dam and the West Beloit Rock Townline Road Bridge.

There is no speed restriction on the rest of the river.
