City of Janesville takes action against spongy moth

City of Janesville officials take steps to prevent oak trees from falling victim to an invasive insect that feeds on their leaves.
Operations Superintendent Ethan Lee says spongy moth – formerly known as gypsy moth – were first found in Lustig Park last year.
Lee says aerial spraying of the chemical BTK will be done by helicopter once this month and again in July.
Lee says BTK is a bacterial insecticide that’s safe for both people and pets.
Lustig park will be closed for several hours following both spray applications.
