A new program is created to provide matching grants to help the homeless

A new program is created to provide matching grants to non-profits and local governments to encourage local development of programs to help the homeless. Rock County Administrator Josh Smith says the available American Rescue Plan Act funding is one of the reasons the board has been engaged in some of these topics. Smith says the county received $31.7 million from the federal government and COVID relief funds. He says the board’s been engaged in discussions about how to most impactfully use the funds, and prioritized them to housing and homelessness issues. The Rock County Board of Supervisors created the program last month and reserved $3 million. More grant information may be available next month.
