An Assembly Bill approving methodology to increase federal medicaid EMS reimbursement is signed into law by Governor Tony Evers. Wisconsin EMS Association Executive Director Alan DeYoung says for lower income areas, EMS departments have lower reimbursement on medicaid calls and lose money in every call. DeYoung says the new law will help recoup some of that money to maintain open doors for EMS departments. He says staffing is extremely bad in EMS because volunteers have been relied on for decades, and people should be paid to save lives. According to a news release, State Senator Mary Felzkowski and State Assembly Representative Amy Loudenbeck are legislative authors of the signed Assembly Bill and companion Senate Bill.
