Struggle is present as The Milton – Milton Township Fire Department looks for ways to gain hires. Fire Chief Jeremy Parker says every fire department in the area currently struggles with staffing and says the job is becoming very demanding and few people are looking to join this line of work. Parker thinks a struggle is it’s not pushed as much as other lines of work as far as IT and other positions as far as the business line of work with colleges and tech schools. He says they hope to change tech schools’ type of thinking and even the trades are having a hard time. The fire departments are doing everything they can to make the position as attractive as possible, hoping to attract people for the Firefighter/Paramedic and Motor Pump Operator position. Applications are due May 16th.
