Rock County parents and guardians are encouraged to keep up-to-date with their kids’ routine vaccines. Public Health Nurse Alanna Gumise says this year’s main focus is ensuring families stay on track for their children’s well-child visits and routinely recommended vaccines. Gumise says COVID-19 caused disruptions in family lives and, in some cases, it means wellness checkups and vaccines, which are a critical part of ensuring children stay healthy, were missed or delayed. She says the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend kids stay on track with their well-child appointments and routine vaccines. National Infant Immunization Week runs April 24 through 30.
