A local dairy is expanding thanks to a state grant program intended to foster innovation, improve profitability, and sustain the long-term viability of Wisconsin’s dairy processing facilities.

Decatur Dairy Owner Steve Stettler says Decatur Swiss Cheese Coop is the farmer-owned coop that owns the building where he makes cheese.

Stettler says the group received a $24,000 Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection 2022 Dairy Processor Grant.

Stettler says a proposed expansion would include a new cooler, dry storage, warming room, new docks, and a whey separation area.
