Families can learn how to protect kids from rabies

A local writer comes out with an article teaching families about rabies and how they can protect their kids. Rock County Public Health Department’s Public Health Strategist Michael Niles says a good first starting point is to talk to children and have open communication. Niles says another thing to do is teach them what to look for in a domestic or wildlife animal, like excessive drooling or aggression. He says rabies is 100 percent preventable if treated early enough before infection spreads. The “Think Before you Pet: Rabies Prevention in Children” article was published last week.
